Sysco Portland Teamsters Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract
Updated On: Dec 15, 2019

On December 15th Teamsters Local 162 members at Sysco in Portland overwhelmingly voted in favor of a new six year contract with significant wage and pension increases in each year of the new contract.

The top Teamster health care plan, the same UPS Teamsters are in, was protected for another six years with great cost share protections for the members. A huge victory.

Secretary-Treasurer Bob Sleight led the charge with his negotiating committee and negotiated language on pension that now covers the first 2,080 in all compensable hours to the pension.  A major improvement.

The new contract also contains improvements in provisions related to vacations, wage progression and premium pay for employees on a 4/10 schedule.

The negotiating committee from the Local included Principal Officer Bob Sleight who chaired the negotiations, President Mark Davison and Business Agent Bill Elzie.  From the driving ranks were Jack Ellis and Chris Heckley, and from the warehouse were Michael Fotre and Jeff Elzie.

Local 162 represents over 300 members working as drivers and warehouse employees at Sysco in Portland.  The members supported their negotiating committee when they voted to authorize a strike back in October.  They gave the Union the needed momentum to secure a fully recommended contract that met with the members approval.
