Negotiations with Sysco Portland continue.  As we previously communicated negotiations were scheduled to take place on October 6^th through 8^th in an effort to avoid a work stoppage after the members voted on September 28^th to give your Union leadership the authority to authorize a strike.  Unfortunately, those additional negotiation dates did not produce a tentative agreement worthy of our recommendation and your vote.  The parties remain far apart on the key economics. 

With the contract scheduled to expire on October 11^th your Union leadership and rank and file negotiating committee have cleared our schedules in order for negotiations to continue on October 9^th and 10^th.  Be assured, there will be clear communication from Local 162 on October 10^th after 5:00 PM as to where we are in these negotiations and the next steps.  Check back at www.teamsters162.com for that communication.
