On Monday, January 16th, your Teamster Local 162 Officers and Local Union activists went to the UPS gates across the Pacific Northwest to participate in the IBT’s Day of Action for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Teamsters Local 162 stood in solidarity with thousands of Teamsters nationwide who are fighting to have Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth recognized as paid holidays for all members. As we get closer to the UPS contract expiration, the Teamsters are taking an active approach by calling on multiple Days of Action’s at the UPS gates. Stay tuned for our next Day of Action and make sure to download the UPS Teamsters app to stay up to date on all things UPS.
Quote from the IBT: “Dr. King understood the importance of solidarity and workers taking collective action,” said General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman. “To honor his legacy and continue his struggle for justice, we must take on the fight at UPS and every workplace. We must take a stand for the rank-and-file members who power this union and show employers the power we have as workers.”
